Jean M. Goodman

Jean Martha Goodman was born March 10, 1933, in New York City. She moved to Margaretville, New York in 1962 and later moved to Norwich, New York in 2023. She passed away on June 7, 2025, at home, surrounded by family.

Jean worked for Broome Developmental Center as a developmental aide with mentally handicapped. She also worked as a home health aide and held a CNA license. Her lifelong work, and joy, was being a homemaker and mother.

Jean was born to John and Anna Fredenburg and one sister, Christine. She is predeceased by two sons, Henry and Karl.

        Jean is survived by her husband Roy, her children Karen (Michael), Enid, Erica, Arne (Ruth), and Lynn (Brad), grandchildren Kenneth, Christopher, Daniel, Jude, Yuri, Rebeka, Nicholas, Sarah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Kristina, Jeffrey and Caitlyn and 13 great grandchildren.

        Jean was an avid gardener and loved any activity that was outdoors. She enjoyed cooking and especially making homemade breads. Her sewing skills were well honed and she was proud of her ability. She was a compassionate person that enjoyed caring for others. Jean's faith was very important to her. She attended church services at Catskill Mountain Christian Center in Margaretville, New York. She served faithfully on the Delaware County Board of Elections. She loved to search for antiques and collectible items and could often be found scouring yard sales and attending auctions to find them.

        The family would like to acknowledge and thank the many caregivers and hospice personnel that made Jean's final journey comfortable.

        Services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Catskill Mountain Christian Center, 629 Main Street, Margaretville, NY. Calling hours 11am-1pm, service at 1pm with interment immediately following.
