Karen S. Renz

Karen S. Renz, 80 passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026 at her home, with her family at her side.

Karen was born July 6, 1945 at Bathgate Hospital in Stamford and was the daughter of Robert C. Renz and Clara E. Moore. She was a lifelong resident of Grand Gorge, NY.

Karen graduated from Grand Gorge Central School in 1963 and also attended SUNY Oneonta. She worked as a bookkeeper for W.S. Hinkley & Sons, Frank Jones, Green Thumb, Margaretville Hospital and Windham Mountain Ski Area.

Karen enjoyed traveling with her family and friends visiting England, Ireland, Scotland, France and Switzerland. She also loved to spend time at Cape Ann, MA whenever possible.

Besides travel, she was an avid reader and gardener.  She also loved spending time with her 16 nieces and nephews, and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Roberta Renz Hubbard and Patricia Renz; brother Robert Renz, niece Jennifer Renz Ramsaran and nephew James W. Fahey.

Karen is survived by sisters, Mary (Glenn) Hinkley of Earlville, Diane (Rudy) Stripp of Stamford , Gail Renz, and Colleen Renz of Grand Gorge and brothers Thomas (Caroline) Renz of Vestal, Michael (Joanne) Renz NY of  Gilboa and Shawn (Betsy) Renz of Port St. Lucie Fl.

There will be no calling hours.  A graveside service will be held at the Gilboa Rural Cemetery at a later date.

 The family would also like to extend special thanks to all the caregivers with Helios of Oneonta, and At Home Care for their kindness and help in Karen’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory can be made to Helios of Oneonta, or the Grand Gorge Fire Department.
