Sheryl Dumond

September 15, 1957 – April 5, 2026

Sheryl Dumond, 68, passed away on April 5, 2026, after her long battle with cancer. She was a woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—listening to music, caring for animals, collecting antiques, and spending time cruising with her younger brother, Gary. Her warm spirit and love for family and the things she cherished will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving sons, David William Carr (Florence Carr) and Aaron Dumond. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Parks, Justice Parks, Juliauna Boyles, David Carr, and Sophia Carr; as well as two great-grandchildren, Isabella Nieves and JJ Parks.

Sheryl also leaves behind her loving aunts, Claire Reisert and Elaine Quinn.

Sheryl is survived by her siblings: Gary Cooper, Susan Cooper, Ernie Cooper, and Jennifer Ovaitte (Steve), along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ernestus Cooper and Elizabeth Cooper; her stepmother, Marjorie Cooper; and her beloved daughter, Valerie Dumond.

A memorial visitation will be held on April 18th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Sheryl’s name to the Delaware County Humane Society, honoring her love for animals.

Sheryl’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the many lives she touched with her kindness and love.
