Evelyn Castle

Evelyn Gloria All Castle passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024.  She was born on July 9, 1944 at home in Charlotteville, New York, the third child of Abram and Emma All.  She overcame polio as a child and went on to graduate high school from Charlotte Valley Central School in 1963.

Evelyn met and married Gene Castle in 1973.   They had one child, a daughter that she wanted to name Samantha but Gene won out and he named her Sandra.  They made their home in North Blenheim where they raised their daughter, a cow here and there, a few pigs, some turkeys and lots of wild birds.   From growing up on a farm to visiting them later in life, she loved the farm life.

Evelyn served her community through the Gilboa and Conesville United Methodist Churches and their Women’s Community Club.  She made many a pie to be sold at bake sales over the years.  Her cherry cheese pies were always a big seller.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Sandra and her husband Timothy Andrews of Ellington, Connecticut; her grandson Collin Andrews of Allston, Massachusetts and her granddaughter Ava Andrews at college in Davis, California.  She will be dearly missed.

We would like to thank the staff of Ghent Rehab in Ghent, New York and especially Home Sweet Home on the Hudson in Catskill, New York for providing her with such wonderful love and care over the past several years.   Per her wishes there will be a private burial in the spring.

Donations in her memory may be made to Schoharie County Senior Citizens Transportation (114 Rock Road, Cobleskill, NY 12043) or to the Ellington Farmers Market (105 Pinnacle Road, Ellington, CT 06029).

There are no services planned at this time.
