Kenneth Arthur Kessel
January 26, 1940 – May 5, 2025

Kenneth Arthur Kessel, 85, of Roxbury, NY, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025. Born on January 26, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, Kenneth was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose warmth and wit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

Kenneth was married to his devoted wife, Maureen Kessel, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He was the proud father of four children: Kate Martinez (Robert), Karen Schmidt (Robert), Kenneth J. Kessel (Michelle), and Kevin Kessel. He found great joy in his grandchildren: Robert Martinez (Rio), Shaun Martinez, Jenna Martinez, Courtney Schwan (Josef), Mary-Kate Biscardi (Joseph), Kelsey Schmidt (Austin), and James Kessel. His legacy continues in his cherished great-grandchildren: Summer, Emma, and Elsa.

Kenneth proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After retiring from General Motors, Kenneth enjoyed dedicating time to his passions—picture framing, creating stained glass, and faithfully following his favorite sports teams: the Dodgers, Rams, Knicks, and Rangers. He especially treasured his mornings spent over coffee with friends, where laughter and stories were shared freely.

Kenneth also gave generously of his time to his community, serving for many years as the treasurer of both the Roxbury Fire District and the Roxbury Library.

A service will be held on Monday, May 12 from 11am-1pm at Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury, NY. A small gathering at the Roxbury Fire House to follow at 1:30pm. Kenneth will be deeply missed, but his kindness, humor, and love will live on in all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, any donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the Roxbury Fire Department.
